Tire balancing pricing

A tire is balanced when its weight is even all the way around the wheel. When it isn't, you feel it as a vibration through the steering wheel or seat — usually worst at highway speed. We spin each wheel-and-tire assembly on a balancer, find the heavy spots, and add small counterweights until it runs smooth. Tire balancing at Prince Tires is $20 per wheel, and it's already included whenever we install a new set of tires.

Frequently asked questions

How much does tire balancing cost in Calgary?
Tire balancing at Prince Tires is $20 per wheel. If you're buying tires from us, balancing is already included in the installation — this standalone rate is for re-balancing tires that are already on your vehicle.
How do I know if my tires need balancing?
The clearest sign is a vibration that shows up at highway speed — around 90 to 110 km/h — and smooths out when you slow down. You'll feel it in the steering wheel, the seat, or the floor. It often starts after a hard pothole hit, and Calgary's spring roads on 16th Ave or McKnight are good at knocking a wheel out of balance.
What's the difference between balancing and alignment?
Balancing is about weight — making the tire and wheel spin evenly so there's no vibration. Alignment is about angles — how the wheels are aimed, which affects pulling to one side and uneven tread wear. They're separate jobs. Prince Tires handles balancing; we don't do alignments.
How often should tires be balanced?
Tires are balanced every time they're mounted, so a new set starts off right. After that, re-balance if you feel a vibration, after a hard pothole hit, or when you notice uneven wear. A lot of Calgary drivers have it checked at their seasonal changeover.
How long does wheel balancing take?
Balancing a set of four takes about 30 minutes. Book a time online and there's no waiting around — drop the vehicle, we balance the wheels, and you're back on the road.
