Do You Need Balancing?

5 Signs Your
Tires Are Out of Balance

01
Steering Wheel Vibration

Shaking or pulsing through the steering wheel at 80-120 km/h is the most common sign of a front tire imbalance.

02
Seat or Floor Vibration

Vibration felt in the seat or floor at highway speeds usually points to a rear tire imbalance - easily confused with other issues.

03
Uneven Tire Wear

Scalloped, cupped, or patchy wear patterns across the tread face are a direct result of imbalance causing the tire to bounce.

04
Poor Fuel Economy

Imbalanced tires create rolling resistance. If your fuel consumption has crept up with no other explanation, check your balance.

05
Noise at Speed

A rhythmic thumping or humming that changes with speed - not engine RPM - often traces back to an imbalanced wheel.

Imbalance Detected All four tires showing weight variance above threshold. Road Force balancing recommended. Estimated time: 25 minutes.
After Service All four wheels within 0-2g tolerance. Road noise eliminated. Vibration resolved.
The Process

Smooth in 4 Steps

From drive-in to drive-away in under 30 minutes. Here's exactly what our techs do to eliminate vibration and restore smooth, confident handling.

01
Wheel Removal

All four wheels are removed and inspected for rim damage, bent edges, or foreign objects that could affect the balance reading.

02
Road Force Measurement

Each wheel is spun on our Hunter Road Force machine, which simulates 680 kg of road pressure to detect vibration a standard balancer misses.

03
Weight Correction

Precision clip or adhesive weights are applied exactly where the machine indicates. Old weights are always removed and replaced fresh - never stacked.

04
Verify & Reinstall

A second spin confirms zero variance before the wheel goes back on. Lug nuts are torqued to OEM spec with a calibrated wrench - not an impact gun.

🔬
Hunter Road Force Elite

The industry benchmark for precision balancing. Applies 680 kg of simulated road load to detect runout, radial force variation, and match-mounting opportunities that a standard balancer misses entirely.

🔩
Calibrated Torque Wrench

Every lug nut torqued to OEM spec - not estimated with an impact gun. Verified after every install. Your wheels won't back off or warp your rotors.

📊
Digital Pressure Gauge

Calibrated to ±0.5 PSI. Every tire is set to the exact pressure on your door jamb placard before your wheels go back on.

Our Equipment

We Use the Tools That Actually Work

Most shops use the cheapest balancer they can find. We invested in Hunter Road Force because it finds problems other machines can't - and our customers feel the difference the moment they drive off the lot.

01
Road Force vs. Standard

A standard spin balancer only measures static weight. Road Force measures the actual rolling force the tire exerts on pavement - a fundamentally different and more accurate reading.

02
Match Mounting

Road Force identifies the high spot on your tire and the low spot on your rim, then rotates them to cancel each other out. This alone eliminates vibration that no amount of weights can fix.

03
Recalibrated Monthly

Our machines are recalibrated on a monthly schedule, not whenever we remember. Accuracy matters when we're working to gram-level tolerances.

When Should You Balance?

🔄
Every 10,000 km

Regular balancing intervals prevent uneven wear from developing. Most manufacturers recommend checking balance at every oil change interval.

❄️
Seasonal Swap

Every time you swap between winter and all-season tires is the perfect moment to re-balance. It takes minutes and makes a real difference all season.

💥
After a Hard Hit

Pothole, curb strike, or debris? Even minor impacts can knock a wheel out of balance - and sometimes bend the rim just enough to cause persistent vibration.

🆕
New Tire Purchase

Brand-new tires still need to be balanced. No tire is perfectly uniform from the factory - balancing ensures they perform at their best from day one.

If your vibration is caused by something other than balance - worn shocks, bent rim, alignment - we'll tell you before charging anything.

FAQs

Common Questions

What's the difference between balancing and alignment?
Balancing corrects uneven weight distribution in the wheel-and-tire assembly - it stops vibration. Alignment corrects the angles of your wheels relative to each other and the road - it stops pulling and uneven wear. They're separate services that fix different problems. We offer both.
How do I know if I need Road Force balancing?
If you've had your tires balanced before and still feel vibration, you need Road Force. Standard balancers can't detect radial force variation (stiffness variance in the tire itself) - Road Force can. It's also the right choice for low-profile, performance, or run-flat tires.
How long does tire balancing take?
Standard balancing on a 4-tire set typically takes 20-30 minutes. Road Force balancing takes 30-45 minutes because we do a second verification spin. You're always welcome to wait in our lounge.
Do I need an appointment?
No - walk-ins are always welcome. If you're coming during a seasonal changeover weekend, calling ahead is smart to check our current wait time.
Can bad balancing damage my car?
Yes. Persistent imbalance causes accelerated wear on tire tread, wheel bearings, struts, and steering components. It's one of the cheapest preventive services you can do to avoid far more expensive repairs.
