Tire repair pricing

A proper tire repair means taking the tire off the wheel, finding the puncture, and sealing it from the inside with a patch — a permanent fix, not a temporary plug jammed in from the outside. Every repair at Prince Tires is $50 per tire and includes dismounting, the internal patch, remounting, and rebalancing the wheel. If the puncture is in the sidewall or the tire was driven flat, we'll tell you straight — that one needs replacing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does tire repair cost in Calgary?
A tire repair at Prince Tires is $50 per tire. That covers the full job: we dismount the tire, find the puncture, clean and patch it from the inside, then remount and rebalance the wheel. There's no separate balancing charge or shop fee tacked on. You'll see the price confirmed when you book online.
Can my tire be repaired, or does it need replacing?
It depends where the damage is. A puncture in the tread area — the part that touches the road — is usually repairable if the hole is small (roughly the size of a nail or screw) and you didn't drive far on it flat. Damage in the sidewall, a gash, or a tire that's been run flat can't be safely patched. Bring it in and we'll give you an honest look — we won't sell you a tire you don't need.
What's the difference between a patch and a plug?
A plug is pushed into the puncture from the outside without taking the tire off. It's a temporary, get-home fix — not a real repair, and we don't do them. A proper patch means we dismount the tire and seal the puncture from the inside, permanently. That's the only method tire manufacturers count as a true repair, and it's what every tire repair at Prince Tires uses. If you plugged a tire yourself to get off the road, bring it in and we'll patch it properly.
How long does a tire repair take?
Most tire repairs take about 30 minutes. Book a time slot online and there's no waiting around — drop the vehicle, we patch the tire, rebalance the wheel, and you're back on the road. Same-day service is usually available.
Can you repair a puncture in the sidewall?
No — and no reputable shop will. The sidewall flexes constantly as you drive, so a patch there won't hold and the tire can fail at speed. Sidewall damage, including the bulges that show up after hitting a deep Calgary pothole, means the tire needs replacing. We'll show you the damage and explain exactly why.
My tire keeps losing air slowly — can you find the leak?
Yes. Slow leaks are one of the most common things we see, especially through a Calgary winter. The cause could be a small puncture, a corroded rim, a tired valve stem, or just the cold — tire pressure drops about 1-2 PSI for every 5°C the temperature falls. We dunk the tire, pinpoint exactly where the air is escaping, and fix the real cause instead of just topping you up.
