Winter tire prices in Calgary for 2026-27

A set of four winter tires in Calgary runs roughly $520 to $1,400 installed, depending on brand tier and tire size. Budget sets start near $130 per tire installed; premium Michelin and Bridgestone sets sit at the top of the range. Everything in the grid above shows live, in-stock pricing before GST, with no call-for-quote games.

The three price tiers we stock

  • Budget, from about $130/tire installed: Haida and similar value snow tires. They carry the same 3PMSF mountain-snowflake certification as the premium brands and handle plowed streets and packed snow fine. If you mostly drive in the city and replace tires every few winters, this tier does the job.
  • Mid-range, about $170 to $250/tire installed: Toyo Observe GSi-6, Yokohama iceGUARD, General AltiMAX Arctic 12, Cooper Discoverer True North. The sweet spot for most Calgary drivers: proven compounds, real ice braking, sensible price.
  • Premium, about $260 to $380/tire installed: Michelin X-Ice Snow and Bridgestone Blizzak WS90. The shortest stopping distances on ice and the longest tread life, which pays off if you keep a vehicle five or more winters.

Those figures include installation on your existing wheels. Quick math for a common size like 205/55R16: a budget set lands around $520 installed, mid-range around $700 to $1,000, premium $1,100 to $1,500. Larger truck and SUV sizes run higher.

Price match guarantee

Find a lower advertised price on the identical winter tire and size at another Calgary shop and we match it. That's a standing policy, not a sale gimmick, and it applies to every tire in this collection all season. Bring the flyer or the link when you book.

When winter tires go on sale, and when to actually buy

Winter tire sale pricing starts in September and runs through November, but the buying rush doesn't peak until the first real snowfall, usually mid-October to mid-November. The rush has two costs: popular sizes sell out (odd sizes go first), and the install booking that takes two hours in September stretches to a day or more. If a size in the grid shows only one or two tires left, that's live inventory — during the rush it's gone within days.

Buying snow tires in September gets you the full size selection, first pick of the budget tiers that sell out fastest, and an install slot within days. One more date to know: if you drive to the mountains, BC's winter tire rule on the Trans-Canada through Banff and on Highway 93 kicks in October 1, earlier than most Calgary drivers expect.

Not sure which type you need?

If you're weighing dedicated winter tires against all-weathers, or want to know how each brand behaves at -25°C, start with our winter tire guide for Calgary. Already own a winter set on rims? The swap-over is $60 flat — book a seasonal tire change instead.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about buying tires

How much do winter tires cost in Calgary?

Plan on $130 to $380 per tire installed, depending on tier: budget brands like Haida start around $130, mid-range options like the Toyo Observe GSi-6 run $170 to $250, and premium Michelin X-Ice Snow or Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 sit between $260 and $380. A full set of four installed lands between roughly $520 and $1,400 for most passenger sizes, before GST. Larger truck and SUV sizes cost more.

When do winter tires go on sale?

Winter tire sale pricing in Calgary starts in September and runs through November. Demand peaks between mid-October and mid-November, usually right after the first snowfall, so the best combination of price, size selection and fast install booking is September to early October. Popular sizes routinely sell out during the rush.

What's the cheapest winter tire that's still good?

Our budget tier starts at about $130 per tire installed, and every winter tire we sell carries the 3PMSF mountain-snowflake certification — the same winter rating as the premium brands. You give up some ice-braking distance and tread life versus a Blizzak or X-Ice, but for city commuting on plowed and packed-snow streets, a budget winter tire is a big step up from any all-season.

Do you price match winter tires?

Yes. If you find a lower advertised price on the identical tire and size at another Calgary shop, we match it, in season and out. Bring the ad, flyer or product link when you book and we'll apply it before you pay.

Should I buy winter tires on their own rims?

If you'll run winter tires for three or more seasons, dedicated rims usually pay for themselves. Remounting on one set of wheels costs $25 per tire ($100 a set) every changeover and adds wear to the tire beads, while a swap-over of tires already on rims is $60 flat. Steel winter rims also let you downsize to a cheaper tire size in many fitments.

How fast can you install winter tires after I buy them?

For tires in stock at our SW Calgary shop, installation can usually be booked within about two hours of purchase, often same-day. During the mid-October to mid-November rush, plan on at least 24 hours of lead time. Booking online when you buy locks in your slot.
