ATV tire pricing

ATV and UTV tire pricing depends on size, ply rating, and tread pattern. A set of four ITP Mud Lite or Carlstar AT489 tires in common ATV sizes typically runs in the $400–$800 range; larger UTV sizes and heavier ply ratings run higher. Mounting is priced per tire on wheels brought into the shop off the machine. Read the four numbers off your existing sidewall (e.g. 25x8-12) and call (403) 452-4283 — we'll quote stock or source what we don't have on the shelf.

Frequently asked questions

What ATV tire sizes do you carry?
We stock the most-asked-for ATV/UTV sizes in the ITP Mud Lite and Carlstar AT489 lines, and we source any other size or brand on demand. Read the four numbers off the sidewall (e.g. 25x8-12 or 27x10R14) and call (403) 452-4283 with the size and your machine — we'll quote what we can get and how fast.
What ATV tire brands do you stock?
Our stock lines are ITP Mud Lite (the long-running trail/mud all-rounder) and Carlstar AT489 (a 6-ply trail tire that works well for utility ATVs on Alberta gravel and bush trails). Any other brand — Maxxis, Kenda, Sedona, GBC, others — we source through our suppliers. Lead time is usually 1–3 business days for a Calgary delivery.
Can you mount ATV tires I bought online?
Yes. Bring the tires and the wheels (off the machine) and we'll mount and balance them. ATV tire mounting is straightforward for shops set up for it — most general tire shops in Calgary won't touch a small-diameter ATV wheel. We will.
Do you mount tires on UTV / side-by-side wheels too?
Yes — same setup as ATV. UTV/SxS wheels are usually 14" or 15" and the tires are heavier (Carlstar AT489 and similar trail/AT tires). Bring the wheels off the machine. If you're not sure whether your machine is classified as an ATV or a UTV for tire sizing, just bring the sidewall numbers and we'll work it out.
How long does an ATV tire change take?
Roughly 15–20 minutes per tire if you bring the wheels off the machine. We don't pull tires off the ATV itself — bring the wheels separately. Call ahead with your sidewall size so we can confirm the tires are in stock or order them in before you drop the wheels off.

Picking the right ATV tire for Alberta riding

ATV tires divide cleanly into trail (everyday riding, mix of gravel, dirt, light mud), mud (open shoulder, deep lugs, made for soft ground), and utility (heavier carcass for work, towing, UTV loads). Most riders we see in Calgary need trail or utility — straight mud tires are overkill for the riding most people actually do here.

Two tires cover most of what we sell:

  • Read the sidewall, then call ATV tires use two number formats — 25x8-12 (older, inch-based) or 27x10R14 (newer, with rim diameter). Either way, the numbers are stamped on the sidewall. Call (403) 452-4283 with the size and we'll confirm stock or order-in.
  • Trail, mud, and utility patterns ITP Mud Lite is the all-rounder — open-shoulder pattern that hooks up in mud without being miserable on hard-packed trails. Carlstar AT489 is a 6-ply utility trail tire — slower, tougher carcass, better when you're towing or running a UTV loaded up.
  • Bring wheels off the machine We mount on the bench, not on the ATV. Pull the wheels off and bring them in — the mounting is fast, but pulling four wheels off an ATV at the shop adds time and chair-shuffling we'd rather skip.
  • Alberta gravel is harder on ATV tires than mud Most blowouts and sidewall punctures we see come off Forestry Trunk Road and the back routes through the Kananaskis and Crowsnest — sharp shale, hidden rocks. A 6-ply tire like the AT489 is the right call if that's where you ride.

If you ride somewhere specific — Crowsnest, Waiparous, McLean Creek, Atlas Coal Mine, Forestry Trunk — call and tell us. Different terrain calls for different tread, and we'll point you at the right pattern (stock or sourced) instead of selling you what's on the shelf.

Mounting, sourcing, and what to bring

When you bring ATV or UTV wheels to Prince Tires:

  • Mount + balance on every tire. ATV tires don't always need spin-balancing, but we balance any wheel where the customer wants it — useful on UTVs that see highway pavement.
  • Bring wheels off the machine. Roughly 15–20 minutes per tire on the bench. Pull the wheels off the ATV or UTV at home and bring them in.
  • Source what we don't stock. Any other brand or size — Maxxis, Kenda, Sedona, GBC, ITP Mud Lite XTR, Carlstar Versa-Trail — we order through our suppliers. Usually 1–3 business days to Calgary.
  • Free re-torque on UTV wheel installs. If we're installing UTV wheels back onto the machine, drop by within a week and we'll re-torque at no charge — same as we do on car and truck installs.

Not sure what you need? Call (403) 452-4283 with the four numbers off your sidewall and we'll quote stock or source-in. We don't charge to confirm fitment before you commit.
